how can i get money to buy a house and start a home business?

with 7 comments

I have been teaching in music studios for 15 years and I have been handling the business aspects as well. I know this business inside out. I need start up money to get ahead or wait 10 years (enough time to afford 20%) until i can buy said house and actually
start the business.

To get started, I suggest contacting the Small Business Administration (SBA). Entrepreneur also offers a great site dedicated to money & finance – see below for both.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can about the process. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

* How to Get a Small Business Loan: A Banker Shows You Exactly What to Do to Get a Loan (Small Business Series, No 1) by Bryan E. Milling
* The SBA Loan Book: Get A Small Business Loan–even With Poor Credit, Weak Collateral, And No Experience by Charles H. Green
* The Insider’s Guide to Small Business Loans by Dan M. Koehler
* Financing Your Business Dreams With Other People’s Money: How and Where to Find Money for Start-Up and Growing Businesses by Harold R. Lacy
* Starting on a Shoestring: Building a Business Without a Bankroll by Arnold S. Goldstein

There are plenty of free informational resources out there. Check the source box for links to articles.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

what are the best work from home online business, that are definitely not fraudulent promises.?

with 6 comments

I am tired of working for other individuals and i want something i can do from home while i take care of my daughter, but i don’t want to get taken either. Is there any advice from someone who has actually used one of these work from home businesses and made a profit from it?

maybe start a home ebay business. If you live in a big house, you can buy stock and sell them or dropship which is you sell the item at a high price and then order the item for the buyer from the source for them, that way you do not need to buy stock!

how to start a home business?

with 4 comments

I want to start a candle business that I will run out of my home, I’m looking for advice from successful business owners, about if I need a business license to get started, or if I should start small, and if I am bringing in any profit, take it to the next level with the license.

How do the tax deductions work exactly?

Most of the time you are always required to have a business license. There are some exemptions to this rule. You can call your local Commissioner of Revenue office and talk to them and they will explain the licensing requirements to you, they can also mail you the necessary form to obtain your license. It is usually based on the amount of income that you THINK/ESTIMATE that you will take in in the first year. They usually have a minimum for example they may say okay if you make $30,000 in the first year your business license is $30.00. So for the first year just keep your estimated income at the minimun.

How do deductions work, well it works like this:

Let’s say you took in $30,000.00 in revenue/income from the sales of candles in the first year. You ran an office out of your home, that is tax deductible. For the home office I always used the square footage of the room I was using, for example I used one room in my house and that room was say 300 square feet and the total square footage of my house was 1052. If you divide 300/1052 that means that you are using 28% of your home for a home office. Then you can deduct 28% of the phone bill, 28% of the electric bill, 28% of the mortgage payments, 28% of the insurance, etc. etc. (whatever expenses are associated with running a home office is deductible)

Now let’s say that you run an ad in the local paper to advertise, that is deductible. Any materials you purchase for making candles is deductible. If you have a cell phone and you use that for business that is deductible. If you use your vehicle for the business then record the BUSINESS MILES ONLY and that is deductible.

Keep receipts for all purchases that you make that are connected with the business.

So now we add up all the deductions and subtract that from the $30,000 and that is what you made before taxes.

There are accounting programs that you can get that are relatively inexpensive such as Peachtree and Quick Books Pro that will help you to keep track of expenses and revenues for the business.

I hope this helps. If you have any other questions please feel free to send me an e-mail.
