How to Talk to Your Friends/Family About Your Home Business (MLM)

with 16 comments

When most people start a home based business they are eager to talk to their friends, family, co-workers and pretty much everyone about their new venture. However, after a few failed attempts to make money from home, people become less and less likely to share their new business
with the people they care about the most.

For many people its almost a sense of shame or embarrassment that comes over them when they get ready to talk to loved ones about what they are doing on the side to make money.

I told you that thing wasnt going to work out, Why dont you just get a REAL job? and What kind of a thing are you trying to get me into this time are common phrases that entrepreneurs
hear all too often when they talk to their friends and family and thats why so many people are so reluctant to do so.

The first thing you have to understand is that there is absolutely nothing wrong with working from home or trying to build your own business
.

That might seem like an obvious statement but you would be surprised at the number of people who are in home based businesses and never, EVER talk to their friends and family about it.

Its like they are secret agents and if anyone should ever find out what they are doing it would be over for them. To be truly successful working from home you have to be proud of your business, and when youre proud of your business you will have no trouble talking to the people in your life.

So what approach works best? People have different opinions on how to present a business to your friends or family but it pretty much just comes down to this. BE DIRECT AND HONEST.

Think of it this way. If you got a new job, a job that could potentially pay you 6 or even 7 figures a year you wouldnt be ashamed to tell the people you love would you? No way! You would be excited and ready to tell as many people as possible.

Well guess what? When you started your own home based business that is exactly what youve done. Youve entered into a business opportunity that could change your life forever, both financially and by giving you the free time to live your life the way you choose! So come right out with it, be excited and be honest. When you are excited and speak with authority other people will get excited for you.

If you make it seem like youre doing something to be ashamed of people will feed off of your negative energy. Dont give them that chance.

The final thing to know when youre talking to your friends and family is that some people no matter how amazing the company is are just plain going to have something negative to say about it. Thats just the way it is.

You cant let other peoples negativity drag you down and keep you from reaching your dreams. Some people wont believe you until you show them your success so go out there and prove them wrong!

Talking to your family and friends about your new home based business can be a very hard thing to do. But, by speaking to them directly and honestly and not letting their negative comments get you down you will be well on your way.

Is it possible to come to the United States to work for a family based ecommerce business?

with 4 comments

I learned that for H1B visa, the occupational title that my employer applies for me should emphasize my education and qualifications. I have a bachelor’s degree in English, but “General Manager” is the title that my employer will apply for me to bring me to America and work for his family based ecommerce business (isn’t incorporated). I’ve worked for him for 2 months now via the Internet from across the Pacific. I do Market Research, Product Research, Business Applications/Softwares Researching and Testing, Website Optimization, Search Engine Optimization, Competitor Price Researching, Price Analysis, Profit Projection, Order Placing, Shipment Tracking, Customer Service, etc. Basically I work as a “General Manager” of the business though I don’t manage any human as we don’t have any other employees. I manage, manipulate, and monitor a wide range of softwares and web applications which perform almost all business functions. I really think I’m a “General Manager”, but will USCIS agree?

Don’t even apply for H1B for a "General Manager"of this company with a degree in English. It’s going to be a waste of time and money, as there is no chance that your application will be approved.

Before you do anything, you need to familiarize yourself with the requirements for this type of visa. According to USCIS "The H-1B categories apply to aliens coming temporarily to perform services in a specialty occupation, or as a fashion model of distinguished merit and ability. The FY2001, 2002, and 2003 cap on H1-B admissions is 65,000 workers." So if you decide to apply, you need to make sure that you meet the qualifications and that the cap is not full.

Take a look at USCIS’ "Temporary Benefits Employment Categories and Required Documentation" page:

Are any of the work from home online jobs real?

with 4 comments

I just wanted to know if any of the online work from home opporotunites are actually legit. They all seem to have the same format which makes me not trust them. I would like to do data entry but i’m not sure which or if any of them are for real. Does anyone know?

You need to send your resume out to real jobs you are qualified to do.

In your cover letter you need to state that you wish to work remotely, from your home office. LOTS of companies, especially in CA operate this way. They usually provide transportation for you to come in for an interview and for you to attend company meetings a few times a year, but otherwise everything is done online.

Can I start a home base cake decorating business using a recipe I didn’t make?

with 8 comments

I would really like to start baking cakes. People tell me my cakes are to die for and I decorate them so pretty but the cakes from a recipe that is in a cookbook . I don’t want to get into trouble…so my question is "can I start a home business decorating cakes with recipes that i didn’t make up?

You cannot patent recipes. You can however infringe on the intellectual copyrights of the recipe. Ingredients cannot be copywrited…only the process or instructions. Avoid this by (A) not giving the recipe out and/or (B) changing the wording of the instructions. I would be more worried about having a home-based baking business without going through the proper health code channels. That wuill certainly get you in more trouble than thinking that someone will taste your cake and say…I KNOW WHERE THIS RECIPE CAME FROM!! Tell people your recipe is a secret.
